Daily Itinerary

Day 1 March 26 - Depart the USA to the Holy Land

Depart the USA to the Holy Land

Day 2 March 27 - Arrive Tel Aviv

Arrive in Tel Aviv and travel to the coastal area of Netanya for dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 March 28 - Introduction to the Holy Land: Caesarea Maritima, Megiddo, Nazareth, Sepphoris, Magdala

Visit the Roman aqueduct and theatre at Caesarea, a center of the early Christians. Here, Cornelius became the first Gentile convert to the new religion (Acts 10), and Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for Trial. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo, where twenty different cities lie superimposed upon each other. Explore the excavations at Sepphoris, the cosmopolitan Roman capital of Galilee. It is heralded as the traditional birthplace of Mary. Visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus (Matthew 2: 23), and see Mount Precipice, where Luke describes how Jesus was rejected by those in the synagogue after He taught them. Filled with anger, they “led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong” (Luke 4: 29). Visit the Church of Annunciation in Nazareth. Explore the recent excavations of the town of Magdala, connected with Mary Magdalene. Arrive at your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 March 29 - Jesus’ Ministry Around the Sea of Galilee: Fishing, Agriculture, Diet, and Work in the Ancient World, Kursi, Bethsaida, Capernaum, Tabgha, Peter’s Primacy, Chorazim, Church of the Beatitudes and Eremos Heights

At Tabgha, the traditional location for the calling of the disciples and the feeding of the 5000, visit the Church of the Loaves and Fish (Luke 9:10-17). Walk the grounds of the Church of the Primacy of Peter on the shores of the Sea of Galilee (John 21). Travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry. Visit the synagogue that stands on the site where Jesus taught. Recall his teaching and preaching the gospel of the kingdom (Matt.4: 13, 23). Your last stop for the day will be the peaceful Mount of Beatitudes, which overlooks the Sea of Galilee. On this hill, Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. You will also see the nearby Eremos Heights. Visit Chorazim, one of the cities Jesus condemned for its refusal to accept him (Matt. 11: 21). Continue to Bethsaida, where Jesus chose five of his disciples (Matt. 4: 18-21; John 1: 39-51). Travel to Kursi, where Jesus cast out evil spirits from a demon-possessed man and cast them into a group of swine, which ran violently down a steep hill and drowned in the sea (Mark 5: 1-13). Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 March 30 - Hazor, Dan, Caesarea Philippi, Gamla

Visit Hazor, one of the oldest archaeological sites in Israel. Here, Joshua fought against Jabin (Josh 11:1-11). Hazor was later fortified by Solomon. Travel north to Tel Dan to see the mud brick arch constructed in pre-Israelite (Canaanites) times and where The House of David fragment from the First Temple Period was discovered. Visit Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus traveled with His disciples and where Peter made his great confession to Jesus, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16: 16). Visit Banyas, the nature preserve on the Banyas River, one of the source streams of the Jordan. See Gamla, the Masada of the North.

Day 6 March 31 - Mount Arbel, Sebaste, Jacob’s Well

Visit Mount Arbel and enjoy a magnificent view of the area in which Jesus ministered. Travel to Samaria and visit the ruins of Sebaste, the ancient capital city of Samaria. See Sychar, home of Jacob’s Well, where Jesus encountered the Samaritan woman (John 4). Continue to Jerusalem.

Day 7 April 1 - Bethany, Wadi Qelt overlook, Qumran, Herodian Palace, Jericho, Lunch and shopping in Jericho, St. Peter’s at Gallicantu, Upper Room, “Tomb of David”, The authentic Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre

Visit Bethany, where Jesus raised Lazarus (John 11) and put into motion the events, which led to his own death. Off the Old Roman Road, view the Monastery of St. George across Wadi Qelt. Travel to Jericho and visit the ruins of the ancient city, Tel Jericho, which was conquered by Joshua (Josh. 6: 1, 2, 20). You will also visit the ruins of the Herodian palace. Visit Mount Zion, the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu and the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was imprisoned. See the Upper Room and the Tomb of David. Walk the authentic Via Dolorosa from Mount Zion to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Day 8 April 2 - Herodium, Shepherds’ Field, Church of the Nativity, Church of the Pater Noster, Church of Bethphage, Mount of Olives walk, Dominus Flevit Church, Gethsemane Church and Grotto

Visit the Herodian National Park. The Herodium is the fortified palace and final resting place of Herod the Great. Travel to Bethlehem to see the cave revered as the place where Jesus was born (Matt. 1: 18 - 25; Luke 2: 1- 7). The Church of the Nativity was constructed on the site and is the world’s oldest functioning church. Nearby, you’ll view Shepherds’ Field, where the Good News was first heard. Travel to Bethpage and the Mount of Olives to enjoy the panoramic view of Jerusalem, “The Golden City.” Take the Palm Sunday Path. Along the way, stop at and Chapel of Dominus Flevit, where our Lord wept over the fate of Jerusalem. Continue to the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 19:28-44), where you will see the ancient olive trees dating to the time in which He was betrayed. Visit the Church of All Nations to be reminded of that fateful night in this garden (Luke 22:39-52).

Day 9 April 3 - Temple Mount, Traditional Via Dolorosa & Pool of Bethesda/St. Ann’s Church, The Western Wall, Southern Teaching Steps and Ophel Excavations

Visit the Temple Mount (7:30 am). Walk the Traditional Via Dolorosa and view the Pools of Bethesda (John 5: 1-31), where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne. Say a prayer at the Western Wall. Explore the Southern Wall Excavations of the Temple, including the Teaching Steps.

Day 10 April 4 - City of David, Mount of Olives

Visit the City of David, David’s capital city. Enjoy time to shop. After dinner, you will depart for the airport for your overnight flight. Passengers registered for the Jordan extension will overnight at the hotel in Jerusalem.

Day 11 April 5 - Return to the USA or Enjoy an Extension

Arrive home with the memories to last for the rest of your life.

April 5 - Jordan, Jerash, Amman
In the morning, cross the Allenby Bridge from Israel into Jordan. Visit Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the traditional site where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. Several baptismal pools dating back to Byzantine times can be seen here. Explore the ruins of Jerash, Jordan’s best-preserved Greco-Roman town.

April 6 - Petra
Early in the morning, journey to the famous rock city of Petra, which is literally cut into the cliffsides. Return to Amman for dinner and overnight.

April 7 - Mount Nebo, Machaerus
View the “promised land” as Moses did from the summit of Mount Nebo. Visit Machaerus, where John the Baptist was beheaded. Cross the border from Jordan to Israel. Spend some free time in Jerusalem before dinner and transfer to the airport for your evening flight home.

April 8 - Return to the USA Arrive home.
