Day 3 January 9 - Magdala, Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha/Primacy, Capernaum, Boat ride

Dawn comes early at Magdala, an industrial site on the edge of the Sea of Galilee. View impressive remains that illustrate the fishing industry from the time of Christ. From Magdala, travel to other nearby places linked to specific Gospel moments: the calling of the disciples, miracle feedings, the Sermon on the Mount, and the restoration of Peter. Travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry. Visit the synagogue that stands on the site where Jesus taught. Finally, board a boat of your own and ride across the Sea of Galilee. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 January 10 - Nazareth (Church of the Annunciation), Mount Precipice, Bethlehem, Meggido

Spend a morning in the rolling hills of Galilee. Walk through the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, a structure built over the traditional home of Jesus. Stop at Mount Precipice, for a view to the Jezreel Valley. Cross the Jezreel valley for a stop at the site of Megiddo, an Old Testament fortress. Drive south in the afternoon hours and arrive in Bethlehem in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 January 11 - Shepherds’ Field, Church of the Nativity, City of David

In the morning hours visit the Shepherds’ Field, where the Good News was first announced. Return to Bethlehem and see the place where the Christian story begins: the Church of the Nativity. In the afternoon hours, travel to Jerusalem and explore the City of David. Go underground and witness Jerusalem’s earliest remains, including a Canaanite wall, the possible site of David’s palace and a spectacular water system that terminates in the Pool of Siloam. Return to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 January 12 - Wilderness of Judea, Jericho, Qasr Yehud, Masada

Descend through the Wilderness of Judea into the Jordan Valley and stop at the site of Jericho, where the walls came a ‘tumblin down’! Continue to the Jordan River for a personal experience at Qasr Yehud, the traditional place where Jesus was baptized. Drive by Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and arrive at the site of Masada. See the desert palace of Herod the Great and consider how this site spelled the end of the first Jewish Revolt. Return to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 January 13 - Jerusalem: Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Via Dolorosa, Pool of Bethesda, Ecce Homo, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Garden Tomb

Stand on the Mount of Olives for a view to the Old City of Jerusalem, Walk down the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter the Old City and walk the path of the Via Dolorosa. Along the way, visit the Pool of Bethesda, the Church of St. Anne and Ecce Homo. Finally, visit the site dubbed the most sacred in all Christianity: the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Here, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus are celebrated. If time allows, stop at the Garden Tomb on the way to dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 8 January 14 - Jerusalem: Jerusalem Cardo, Western Wall, Davidson Center, free time
